Two Thumbs Up

Wednesday in the Operations Committee Becky Nace bucked the good ol' boy system and sided with neighborhoods. Insiders say she is now suffering for this with name calling and assertions that she stepped out of bounds. Neighborhoods believe, unlike other council members, she actually knows her place. The definition of at-large is to represent the whole. That's exactly what Becky did Wednesday. She looked beyond her district and spoke up for other constituents she was also elected to represent. While Councilman Eddy grudgingly supported her motion, it is our understanding that he is one of those most upset with Ms. Nace. It would appear that he is the one who doesn't understand who he is supposed to represent. Just as his district was opposed to Richards-Gebaur, they are opposed to Bridgezilla over the Blue River; yet, he continues to pursue it any way he can, even if that means being less than truthful. The mayoral primaries are still a ways off, but these two candidates appear to be following very divergent paths. For my money, the one that follows the interests/needs of neighborhoods is a much longer one.

"Democracy" is to "Chuck Eddy" as

a) matter is to anti-matter
b) oil is to vinegar
c) a cross is to a vampire
d) fire is to Frankenstein
e) all of the above

Being a Kay Barnes clone may have gotten Chuck Eddy some prime committee appointments, but it won't get him elected mayor.

Chuck's nemesis has entered the race. Maybe now Chuck will finally see the writing on the wall, pack up his tent and go home.

I watched that committee meeting on channel 2. Having lived in the area for some time, it seemed like Eddy doesn't know much about the area. He certainly doesn't travel east on Red Bridge often if he thinks it's 4 lanes to the river. I always had my suspicions, but after watching him at the meeting, I now know that he will say anything to get what he wants, no matter how far from the truth it may be.

2 thumbs up and 3 cheers for Becky Nace and a couple of raspberries for Chuck Eddy. I'm sure if Deb Hermann had been present at the meeting, she would have seconded Becky's motion. Unlike Chuck, Deb and Becky care about neighborhoods.

I certainly hope irssec's intention isn't to vote for Fairfield just because he's from the north. Friends of Red Bridge held a mayoral forum, and from his responses, he couldn't be any more Establishment.

Alvin Brooks may not be part of this committee, but I think he's just as much to blame for the proposed "BridgeZilla" as Chuck Eddy. He's not listening to the neighborhoods, either. Maybe he would if he actually spent more time in his district. Yael was right when he said Alvin doesn't have a clue. Heaven help us if he's elected mayor.

Alvin Brooks is smart enough to keep his head down and let Chuckie do all of the dirty work. Whidh is exactly what Al Brooks is famous for letting someone else make the fire and he roasts the wienies. At least Chuckie sticks by his guns. He decided that the railroad would be nic to him if he got this deal done and he's going to get the railroads deal done. Of course while he has been out looking for funds from potential contributers Uncle Al has been employed by Move Up even though the City pays money to Move-Up Finally they took him off the dole this year. Red Bridge beter get someone to look out for their interests in this Council election or they better quit griping.
